Reflecting on the 2019 Art Energy Camp

In September 2019, the Light Environment Design program at Communication University of China, under the guidance of Associate Professor Liu Xiaoxi, launched the experimental art project "Light Field" at Jiangsu Province's Zhenjiang Jinshan Lake International RV Camp. Students from related disciplines participated in this innovative initiative.

The project challenged conventional spatial expression by using "light" as its fundamental medium, exploring the interplay between natural and artificial illumination while engaging in dialogue with the environment itself. It aimed to pioneer new expressive territories beyond traditional design education frameworks. By centering spatial composition around the intangible element of light, students fully demonstrated their sensitivity and unconstrained creativity, translating individual imaginative concepts into tangible spatial experiences.

This practice extended beyond mere formal experimentation, positioning itself as an art initiative conscious of coexisting with natural environments and local culture. By visualizing the relationship between people and their environment through light, it offered viewers new experiential value while providing students with both educational development and practical social engagement.

Such initiatives embody Communication University of China's educational philosophy of "integrating theory with practice" and "fostering interdisciplinary creativity." The project stands recorded as one of the representative achievements in the history of the Light Environment Design program.
